Incepted in 1994, we are our state’s oldest and longest-running AmeriCorps program. We help immigrant and refugee families gain access to resources and support needed to integrate and become economically self-sufficient and contributing members of society. We do this by placing AmeriCorps members with our partner agencies (host sites) to provide families with job services, case management, English language instructions, tutoring, education support services to students in grades K-12, and so much more. We have partner agencies in Alamance County, Guilford County, Mecklenburg County, Orange County, and Wake County.

Contact

Khouan Rodriguez, Program Director, at 336.256.1060 or acaccess@uncg.edu.

The ACCESS Project is supported by a grant from the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service in the Office of Governor Roy Cooper.

Is your organization dedicated to strengthening the community? She has passionately served the immigrant and refugee community, providing employment and related services. Razaz goes above and beyond to make sure clients are well taken care of. She is always ready to serve regardless of the time of the day when clients reach out to her, or on the weekends, her response is always yes. Razaz has created additional ways to provide services at the center and this includes reaching out to service providers to ask them to present to community members. This aligns with the center’s approach of bringing services to clients and meeting them where they are. We have seen an increase in clients served since we started providing the monthly workshops and our families learn a great deal about the services available to support them. We are grateful for all Razaz has done!

-Natacha Nikokeza, Site Supervisor at Community Enrichment Center

<figure Mrs. Allyson has been an all-hands-on-deck person throughout the 23-24 program year. She has worked tirelessly to create space for me to grow both personally and professionally. She has supported me throughout my term here as an AmeriCorps member by being hands-on with documents and client communications.

Mrs. Allyson constantly encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and take charge of activities involving volunteers and kids. During any events we hosted, she always ensured that we had enough support in case I couldn’t handle the situation by myself. This included having more volunteers available or finding ways to accommodate our needs.

For our outreach efforts, she made sure that we understood what we were doing before assigning tasks to me and other AmeriCorps members.
